Iran box office top hits revealed

The bestselling films at Iranian box office for May 16-24, 2018, have been unveiled with 'Texas' still ruling after 5 weeks of screening.

Top movies at the Iranian box office from Wednesday last week through this Thursday include:

‘Texas' directed by Masoud Atyabi (Weekly gross: 10,874,830,000 Rials, Total gross: 69,016,480,000 Rials), ‘Don't Be Embarrassed' directed by Reza Maqsoudi (Weekly gross: 47,33,470,000 Rials, Total gross: 12,893,370,000 Rials), 'Istanbul Junction' directed by Mostafa Kiaee (Weekly gross: 4,648,840,000 Rials, Total gross: 14,708,840,000 Rials), and ‘Confiscation’ directed by Mehran Ahmadi (Weekly gross: 3,847,420,000 Rials, Total gross: 150,800,050,000 Rials).

‘Texas’ has an action comic theme and enjoys some foreign stars. “Never threaten an Iranian, even in Texas,” the tagline for the flick says.

‘Don't BeEmbarrassed’ tells the story of a middle-aged couple who are expecting a baby. This brings them new challenges living in their small village.

'Istanbul Junction' narrates the story of the tragic collapse of high-rise landmark building Plasco in Tehran which occurred in January 2017, killing several people including brave firefighters in Iran.

‘Confiscation’ is a comedy that follows the story of a SAVAK (Iran's security service before the Islamic Revolution) agent escaping to the US after the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
